I was wondering if we could use the 135W power adapter HP 135W AC Adapter | HP® Official Store instead of the stock 90W one that came with the Envy 14. Also would there be any advantage to use the 135W adapter such as faster battery charging?

Hmm I have been using charger that came with ipad on iphone and I think it does charge the iphone faster. But then again, it could be just my imagination. I would think so though unless the Envy 14 limits how much power it takes in.

I think it would be faster to charge but the battery would also get warmer and possibly shorten its life.

When I use the 65W slim adapter it is significantly slower to charge than the 90w.

    It will get charged, but:

Faster charging = more battery wear
Slower chaging = less batery wear.

Interesting. I also keep getting this smart battery warning thing that says I should use a different adapter to get better performance from the CPU. This is on a clean install. I donno if its just a glitch or its really decreasing my performance.

strange, it never says anything when i use the 65w adapter. It works great even for gaming with a laptop cooler.

The 65W adapter is definitely not enough for the i7. Horrible lag, and the adapter pretty much heats up to the point where I'm afraid to touch it. The 135W, however, would be fine. The battery charging circuitry will only charge at whatever is safe for the battery. The Envy isn't forced to strain the adapter at its maximum rating, it'll use whatever it needs.

I have no issues with it , probably becuase of the i5.

I always set the max CPU to 85 when I game, so that may reduce heat issues and power draw on the 65w (which gets warm but not hot)
