Hi all,
My friend's college student cracked the screen on her 14" Pavilion dv5. I was able to disassemble it (what a pain in the a$$) and take the screen out:

The part # is LP145WH1 TL A1 . It's a 14.5" WXGA HD LED diode screen, see Amazon link:
Amazon.com: LG PHILIPS LP145WH1(TL)(A1) LAPTOP LCD SCREEN 14.5" WXGA HD LED DIODE (SUBSTITUTE REPLACEMENT LCD SCREEN ONLY. NOT A LAPTOP ): Computers & Accessories
Spending $180+ for this laptop seems like way too much to me.
Does anyone know of a place to get this screen for less (used is OK... checked ebay already), is there a cheaper comparable option?
Thanks for your help.
Steve

Unfortunately they don't show shipping charges, or at least I didn't find them at quick glance.
I haven't bought anything from there yet but it is old and pretty big site. -
Thank you KLF,
I have seen the Chinese options but I am trying to avoid them... -

If eBay is ruled out then your going to be short one your options where you can get a replacement without it being more expensive.

They are available on ebay for about $200... Looks like the 14.5" screen size is the problem...

Wait what I don't get is why are you spending 180 to repair a laptop screen that you don't own?? That choice should be up to your friend who owns the computer and that price shouldn't matter to you. If they want to fix it then they should decide what they want to pay for the screen. You can find the price range and what screens are available and your friend has to decide what they want to do. So just curious who broke the screen any why does it matter for price for you to fix it that should be up to your friend to really decide on???? I did check eBay and did find new on around 200 with S/H so if the is the case Amazon would be more reputable should any problems happen. -
I don't want to resort t my sarcastic self Sherlock... but I can't help it...If you don't have any helpful insight please refrain from posting kaka... HOWEVER it it helps you help my friend, his daughter stepped on her laptop and broke the screen... It's his decision to fix it or toss it... These laptops refurbished go for ~#350 so spending $200 to fix it may not make sense BUT if a screen that can work with this laptop can be had for under $100 then it would make sense to fix... Hence the post... If you can help AND I haven't insulted you enough please do, otherwise...
Thanks for your time!

So where did I make a sarcastic comment? No where asked a honest question whomever broke it at least owns up to fix the screen. In this case the kid broke it so they can't afford to fix it but then parent is the one to fix the screen as the kid stepped on it? How was it your the one paying for it though is the question? You can take my response as take it or leave as well....
