I wrote this thread to hlp anyone wants to buy new NB and wanna know if 14.1 or 15.4 is more suitable for him.

So if anybody have one of these two mainstream screens please refer to your experience with it and if you wish to goback in time and buy the other one, and give your opinion about 1.3" difference is it worth the the 1lb. of weight on your shoulders? :confused2:

I've owned both, and the difference between 15.4" and 14.1" laptops is more than 1.3". ;)

If you'll be moving quite a bit, the 14.1" is much nicer to haul around. Of course if you move only occasionally, the extra real estate and more powerful graphics options are nice.

I agree. 15" are fine if you spend most of the time at a desk and carry it around in a backpack infrequently but a 14" being more compact will work better if you frequently use it on your lap plus it is also easier to use in cramped places.

Although I've never used a 14.4", I carry around my 15.4" notebook around campus almost every day, along with some textbooks, and I don't mind it at all. Some of my textbooks actually weigh more than my notebook  . As far as bulkiness, again, I don't find it very bulky myself.

But really, the best thing to do is try out both for a few days (if you can) and see what you think.

Depends what bag you put it in. I use a shoulder bag for work and my 14" strains my shoulders after a while, sorta like a work out too. If you put it on a backpack, it wont be a problem at all.

If you compare the pros and cons between the both youll probably realise the 15" is more handy

People say that working on the 14" strains your eyes , i work on my NB the whole day and it never strain my eyes .
I tried the both (away from gaming) they are very similar at normal day use.

If you are buying a dell, the difference in bulk/weight is considerable between a 14" and 15". But HP has done a fine job on their dv6500t 15" notebook and it has a nice thin design and is very portable if you ask me. But a 15" dell 1500/1520 is like hauling around a tank.. its thick and heavy. The only thing the dell 15" notebooks have going for them is the faster 8600 GT GPU option and thats it. I suggest going with the dv6500t.. its a great design and offers a larger screen without adding much bulk.. it should also be a tad cooler then the smaller 2500 14" HP. But the 2500 should not be an eye stain being it only comes in the wxga option. The dells 14" screens offer the higher wxga + screens and that may stain some eyes.. those 1440x900 screens have a high rate of graininess as well. I think the only time one really needs a smaller laptop is when you travel allot. If you fly allot, the smaller lappie is nice in cramped conditions. But if you are just going to carry this around by car, go with the 6500. Most of the ultraportables you see are with business people who fly allot.

I both own this laptop and it depend on where you gonna use it? If you like travelling or bringing you're laptop at sturbucks or any wi-fi spot I say you go with 14.1. But if you are kind of person who watch a lot of video and hanging out on your couch and want a desktop replacement go with 15.4. But if you gonna ask my wife she'll probably recommend a 14.1 that explain why I own 2 laptop I lose my laptop to my wife.
