does any1 know what chipset the new voodoo's will have? maybe montevina?
-
I can't imagine not
-
if the 15 and 17 take long to come out they will be on the nehalem chipset hopefully.
-
i know this is off topic but what would the difference be between montevina and nehalem?

but you're in for a long wait, prop looking at q2,q3 2009 for laptops -
-
Actually the new laptops will use the i965pm chipset and will not support the monteveina line.
If you havent noticed, Voodoo hasnt updated their line of laptops in a long time. The only mobile core 2 they had was their m152, so they will be bringing out two new hp/voodoo laptops which use the new T8x00 and T9x00 processors which other manufacturers have been selling for 6 months or so. They are pretty far behind, so do no wait for monteveina from them as their new laptops will not have it.
Plus their new laptops are crap, just hp's with a voodoo sticker. Nothing any good to look at or in the specs department. Hp has killed the company and will offer terrible hp laptops with the hp terrible technical support with a price much higher than hp's normal price.

I wonder... will these laptops come with a core 2 extreme??? I thought not, cause they suck, and probably won't even offer the option of the mobile 9800 gtx's in sli. What a waste. Voodoo will offer these laptops with minimal upgradeablity, and will remove upgrade options as time progresses, as they get more and more complaints of overheating issues. Prime example: Voodoo only offered the 7900's in their laptops for the longest time, even though the laptops could well handle 7950's, 8800's and or quadros. I'd rather have quattro all wheel drive in a hypersonic or enjoy the benefits of the new 9 series cards than deal with outdated components in a voodoo.
-
do you have proof of this K-tron?
-
look at the chipset they use for the 13 inc.. makes sense what he is saying
-
yes I have proof, I have an email from Chris S. of HP Gaming.
Here is my email message:
"We look like we are behind the curve in the tech area because we are about to unveil 2 never seen before Voodoo products. A laptop, and a new Omen. Each of them will have some amazing things to offer. The laptop will not have monteveina support, but it will have other benefits. So much so, that once they launch, we will be discontinuing our old line up. We have a hard date of June 10th for the new products, and the new community site (all of this is confidential though) and trust me when I say, the rest of the boutique builders will be scrambling to catch up."
here is his post on teh old mutthaboards:

hmm, it seems it really is crap. i take everything back k-tron
.....i still like the look though, even though its a voodoo/hp -
not having montevina is not the end of the world for the 15-17inch voodoos...
i just hope they have Good battery life using SR like the m15x.. (2hours gaming 6hours on powersaving) (with 6x2 cells)
all any gamer should really want from a gaming laptop atm is a 2.5-3gig Duelcore adn a 8800m GTX or 9800m GTX (or possibly a new ATi 3800 some thing)
this generation of quadcores are already dead for gaming as all physics is not going to be done on cpu any more and now pushed onto the GPU on both Nvidia and Ati.
i just got some ugly newes from ALienware about the m15x so im really hoping HP bring out news of the new 15-17 soon -

just ignore him, hes ranting about voodoo because he had a bad experiance with them like a year ago. dont let him put you off
-
A year ago? Try again. Voodoo just screwed him on his warranty not but a month ago. You pretend like he is a "Voodoo Hating Evangelist", but forget the fact that he owns multiple Voodoo products! How many do you own?
Please, before you try knocking someones credibility, please know your stuff. -
they didnt screw him on warranty, he screwed himself over
-
well what I don't get is the amount of money he must have...
If this is like pocket money for him he would not care!
To get all those voodoo he must be loaded so it should not really make a dent in his wallet, so why so angry?
I don't have the background...but either he's just a psychoor there is something here
-
I feel like I'm defending the guy, but I don't think any of you understand.
Trecipticon- You're coming off more like a Voodoo Fanboy. Now, I don't know the "facts", but K-Tron says that they told him it would no void his warranty to paint it. Now, let's use some common sense, shall we? A guy pays eight-grand for a computer- do you really think he is going to
A) Not call and make sure his warranty will be okay before painting.
B) Call, and find out that it will in fact void his warranty, but go ahead anyway.
Neither make sense. If you drop that much on a notebook, you make sure and cover your arss. After he did get it painted, they told him his warranty was void. Definition- Screwed.
Maceto- You don't have to be loaded to afford it. He's 18. When I was 18, I bought a Marshall JCM-2000 Custom, a '59 Les Paul Custom Gold Top, and a 1988 DW Collectors kit, all in one summer. (Total of around $15,000) But I lived at home, with no bills, and had all the time in the world to save. (Man what that stuff would be worth today... that was 10 years ago!) -
I don't see how voodoo is screwing him over here. He broke the system, It wasn't voodoo's fault that he pulled it apart and tinkered with it causing it stop working.
I'm just reposting what has already been said, wouldn't call that being a fanboy -
Hmm, you made a good point. I was thinking they had told him he could take his computer apart. Sorry for the comment, obviously I was in the wrong.
