Sorry for posting another thread, but this is an entirely different issue related to which laptop I should get.

Now that I'm returning the dv6t which has yet to come (because I was stupid and ordered it without using the coupon, I talked to 2 reps and they said just return it and re-order, they will pay postage) I am second guessing getting a 16" screen.

15.4" was ALMOST too big to lug around and for classrooms, but it was PERFECT for gaming and viewing movies.

Now, I am REALLY torn between getting a 14.1 or 16". The specs dont matter to me, because both the dv4t and dv6t are more than suitable for my gaming needs (I game a lot, but older games like d2 and hl2)

My laptop WILL mainly be a desktop replacement, HOWEVER I will also be taking it to cafes, coffee shops, and classes a few times a week.

I'm going to best buy tomorrow to get an idea of the difference, but I dont know if they have 16" there yet. I havent really shopped at overpriced retail stores for laptops before....I just want screen comparison.

What would you guys say is closer to 15.4" in a real world setting, like at home, in classroom, at a cafe, etc etc?

What would be YOUR preference, if you were using it for gaming, movies, AND portability?

For your purposes, I would recommend a 14", especially since your games don't need that powerful of a GPU.

Retail stores such as Best Buy should have 16" and 14" laptops, as 16" is the new 15.4", and is becoming more and more commonplace.

+1 for the 14". It is really portable, and you will more easily carry it around. A 16" is just getting too big like the my 17" Alienware; it's huge!

Then by all means get the 16" screen, you'll enjoy games and movies more with a bigger screen.
You just cant have to much screen............. ;)

I personally think the 16" is a great balance between portability and size. But then again I don't take mine to class. It sits home all day. The 16" widescreen is actually 1 inch shorter than the 15.4 but 1 inch wider. To see a size comparison between 15.4 and 16" look at my pics here. Its not a huge difference between the 2.

Went to Best Buy, and didnt see a MAJOR difference between the weight or size of the dv4t or dv6t.....so considering the dv6t has the ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 4650 , I decided to go with it :)
