I realize a lot of people are not happy losing the vertical space with 16:9.

But wasen;t this the case when we originally moved to widescreen. E.g. with 14" laptops the high-res displays used to SXGA+ which when they became WXGA+ we lost some vertical resolution.

My hdx16 has 16:9. Love it no problems. Some are too anal.

I don't remember the uproar of fullscreen to widescreen in computer monitors, but I think it wasn't too bad.

I think the reason why there is an uproar now is because of this....

4:3 = Good for web browsing
16:10 = Compromise of movies and web browsing
    16:9 = Good for movies

See where I'm going with this? 16:10 accommodates more people and most people use their laptops/desktops for computer work rather than watching movies.

No some are not too anal. People who do actual work need the vertical space for word docs or coding.

    From 1920x1200 to 1920x1080, 120 pixels.

Some people find that a lot when we only have 800-900 of vertical space. I prefer a wider screen to a taller one. No one's alike though.
