Hi guys, I have Pavilion dv7 with full hd screen and I'am just wondering why is not possible to set the screen resolution to 1600x900, there is even no option to choose this. Only because of games, not in desktop (i love 1080p) but in new games 1080 is too much for 6770, there was no option to choose 1600x900 in every game i played...dont you guys know why? Drivers problem?? I have the 12.1 catalyst. Thanks for your help.

I myself had the same problem, It was either 1366x768 or 1080p. 1080P is a little to much for battlefield 3 and some times bad company 2. I have not found a way around this yet but I will try to later today when I have some free time.

There should be something in the BF3 settings file that lets you force 1600x900.

switch to intel HD3000 and setup a custom resolution of 1600x900. (You may need to reboot -) Switch back over to the Radeon and the choice should then be available. You want to make sure that it centers the 1600x900 image instead of streching to the full 1080 display... There is a place to set that up, but it is different than on XP and I don't remember off the top of my head... It didn't take me too long to figure it out though... google will probably be of use...

    If you are bored...

That's the smartest thing I have seen all year on this laptop.
Playin skryrim, dead island, and mass effect 3 at 1600x900 with AA
and best qualities is much better than 1920x1080 no aa or 1366x766 w/all
the goodies. HP are idiots for not including it in the first place,
since it is a standard widescreen format resolution.

How do you do that? I'm trying to find that option to no avail.

*edit* I"m a jackass. Found it...
