According to Intel, the 2630QM supports just DDR3-1066/1333. However the timings for the 1600 sticks
    might be slightly better.

I have a dv6 6170 and the motherboard does in FACT support DDR3 1600 if you have one of the high end i7 Sandy Bridge chips. For instance I have an i7 2820QM which based on the HP Repair manual for the dv6 6000 series was the best chip available in the dv6 quad with HM65 chipset.

I am using 2 sticks of 4GB Hyinx RAM and it registers in CPU-Z as 1600, Geekbench also reports my RAM at 1600 as well as many other applications.
