    another thread by me. :D

so yeah. again... i gotta say that i'm extremely infatuated with my dv7. but i'm just realizing now how it's a little too big for traveling and carrying around.

i can just imagine being on a plane and the guy next took me giving me looks once i take out this massive beast. or even if i just go anywhere. i would probably get some chuckles as i use this in public. am i alone on this?

do you guys take ur 17" with you everywhere? where?

I do, at least to school. I would use it in my dad's truck if he had a beefier power inverter. Who is going to laugh at you about having a laptop?

Heck yes I do. Why should you care about what other people think? The only person that should care about you or your possessions are you! I enjoy using my notebook everywhere. The 17' is a beast but that's why I have it. That's the purpose of a laptop. Although I do have four 8 cell batteries for my DV7T lol.... :)

I bought an HP backpack for my notebook and it is nicely made. Here's a link: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/s...071&srccode=cii_9324560&cpncode=18-16166690-2

I think it was $60 when I got it, so that is an awesome deal. It's padded very well and when you wear it, it is barely noticeable. I bike a lot and it doesn't tie me down. There's a lot of space to store things along with the notebook.

Def yes, but since I'm going to an university known for theft, probably not as much I normally would. As for the weight and size: I was an overacheiver in high school, so I'm used to lugging about 20lb of textbooks and stuff in my backpack all day. But just in case, I'll probably get LowJack(cheap at the university comp store) for it and have my name and driver's license num engraved on it (I know, desecration! Heresy!).

Infamous, I was actually thinking of picking up that bag. So the padding is good? Better than a typical school backpack? I want my laptop to be protected very well.

    Yep.

When I first bought it I thought oh jeez another horribly made notebook bag that will barely fit. To my surprise it fit perfectly and still had lots of room. There's a small pocket in the front for a camera, ipod, your wallet or just loose change. There's a little bigger pocket to house the charger and batteries (in my case 5 :) ).There are two bigger pockets, one to hold the laptop and another to hold books, etc. The pocket with the notebook is still big enough to carry 2-3 books. I was amazed at the quality when I got it. The seams were perfect and it was very comfortable. I don't think they could afford to put anymore padding in it.... lol :)

yes..... i was. it was 17 inch (Pavilion zd7377EA). Now, even worse, 20.1 inch Pavilion HDX.

    17 inch is 4.2 kilograms
    20 inch is 7.05 kilograms

i still own them both, together with HP OmniBook XE3

mine, when i get it, will most likely just sit on my desk... which sort of sucks because im sure the battery will go bad after a while and only hold like a 30 minute charge........ =(((((((

Just get the battery replaced 10 months down the road. That's included in the one year warranty.

Actually, if you're going to have laptop constantly plugged in, you might as well remove the battery whenever you finish charging. That way it's not constantly heated and will not loose charge as much. Store it in your frige at about 40-70% charge for longer life.
