For gaming is there really any need to get th 2gb 6770. Most games don't use the full 1gb anyway. So i just wanted to make sure the cards are the same and not a lesser bus speed or any other disadvantage for the 1gb card.

1GB is more than enough for the 6770M. It all comes down to personal preference. More HP marketing than anything else IMO and not worth the upgrade. I put that $50 towards an SSD.

Agreed. I have a 6950 in my desktop...its 2gb and I dont know of any of my games that fully utilise that at 1080. On a laptop GPU I think it's a joke...the processing power of the 6770 will become the bottleneck before the ram ever will.

Doesnt make a difference. i think by the time games use 2gb graphics radeon 6770m will be long obsolete. 2gb is major overkill IMO.

the 2GB is 100% marketing. The 6770m uses a 128bit bus, so there is not nearly enough bandwidth for it to ever allocate 2GB efficently.

But it does help with resale, so i bought the upgrade anyways
