I have a d2000z. I’m getting only just over an hour of battery life. Is this normal? I'm running vista on balanced power settings, with the screen brightness turned down to min. Wireless off, just running visual basic and browsing the web. It’s not even enough time to make it through my 1hr 15min coding class, ugh! How much time are you guys getting?

Thats too low. MY V3000z which shares the same hardware as the dv2000z averages around 2hr:30min with the screen turned all the way down and general use with Windwos XP. Vista shouldnt lead to any such drastic decrease in battery life unless one of two things. Has the battery life been the same since you bought the laptop or is this a recent occurance? Your battery might be bad or the Powernow settings might not be working properly to control the cpu speed. Check your cpu speed and see if it goes down to 800MHz when idle. You can use a utility like CPU-Z for this. Also HP should have a battery health monitor on the support/downloads page for your system, run it and see what it reports.
