    Hello,

Hello I recently bought a 17.3 Pavilion dv7-4169wm Laptop and I do some gaming. I have 2 questions. I use the Targus dual fan lap desk to keep it cool. My question is the only spot that gets really warm is on the upper left of the laptop where one of the vents are. I think it is the main vent. The rest of the bottom stays cool. Should I be concerned? I usually play games for about 2 or 3 hrs a day.

My second question is regarding adding another hard drive. I know it can support 2 hard drives but the second spot for a drive does not have the rails or the cable. Where can I purchase these?

    Thank you in advance.

    John

    1) what are the temps? That is the important question.

    2) some persons here already have made it, do a search or wait they might answer if they are still here.

    I've got dv7-4100.

I think what you describe is normal. All gaming graphics chips get hot.. you only notice it more on a laptop. Just make sure you never block the air intake fan on the underside, directly underneath the hotspot

You can run gpu-z to check your gpu temps.

    2) Someone in another (long) thread on dv7 bought hdd rails from some 3rd party and seemed pretty happy.

The Main processor gets to about 63c
    The GPU gets to 60c
I just want to make sure I am not damaging anything.
I did find the information on the hard drive kit. That was just what I was looking for. Thank you.
Thank you all for the help.

Very fine temps. I suspect you aren't pushing them 100%. It typically should reach high 70´C or low 80's. Note also ambient temperature matters.
