    1. Is there any news incoming about new models or updates to pre-existing lines?

    2. Is LightScribe worth it?

    1. I have no idea.

    2. I bought mine with LightScribe just for the heck of it. I print my dvd with my inkjet printer (modded Canon Pixma ip4000). I can print a dvd disc in a minute or 2, but for 30-40 minutes for LightScribe, that's a long wait, and a wear on the dvd writer itself.

    1. maybe soon because Dell just updated their line ups.
    2. I have Light Scribe on the 2 HP i purchased. I have never use it because you need to buy special DVD made by HP to use it. You can't use LightScribe on regular DVD.

    1. :confused:Who knows?
    2. I have Lightscribe. How much Lighscribe is worth to you depends on how often you print CD/DVD labels. If you print them often, I'd say yes, it's worth it. Otherwise, it's more of a gimmick than anything.

First of all, you have to purchase Lightscribe-enabled media to make use of the Lightscribe feature. There are other companies besides HP that make them, but they all cost a fortune over non-Lightscribe media. Lightscribe is b/w only (though you can get the Lightscribe media in 6 different colors) and takes a long time to burn (anywhere from 5-40 minutes, depending on the label design). Also, the Lightscribe DVDs are worthless; they don't label well at all. The Lightscribe CDs label much better with near professional-grade results.

Of course, Lightscribe can be easier and more convenient than trying to print a label and sticking on the CD/DVD.

    1. If they did upgrate I wouldn't get one anyhow 'cause the one I go t does the job.

    2. Lightscribe: yes the discs are a little bit more expensive and takes a while to burn the graphics but at least you can run it under running water to clean and no "ink" to bleed as with pasted on labels. Cons: the imprint isn't very dark.. more like gray. At least the information is permanently imbedded.
