    Hi guys!

You helped me when I wanted to purchase my first laptop and decided to go with the HP dv6000. I'm really happy with it as it serves all of my needs.

Recently I'm having 2 issues with it.

    (1) The headphone jack stopped working. Whenever I plug in my headphones and tuen on some music, the sound will just come from the internal speakers and not from the headphones. Anybody experience this? Any solutions/ideas? For music now I've reverted to the faithful iPod but I would like to be able to use the headphones on my laptop.

    (2) All of a sudden the battery life has decreased by a half-life or more. Now my battery only lasts about 45 minutes!!! Not much of a laptop anymore - sounds more like a desktop. I'm using the standard battery that came with the laptop. Also the low battery signal from Windows XP will not show before the laptop hibernates. So basically it will hibernate, I'll plug the computer on to power supply and when I turn it back on I'll get the message "You change your battery or connect to power line" message. This is getting frustrating. Any ideas???

    Thanks

    1. Tried reinstalling the sound drivers?

    2. There is some sort of battery discharge method which can sometimes help but I've no idea how to do it....try searching the forum. Or someone might turn up and explain all!

    Thanks for your replies

For (1) I've tried installing drivers and it didn't solve the issue. I've contacted HP about this through their support site.

For (2) I've just done what HP calls battery calibration - let's see how long the battery lasts now. Meanwhile I've also contacted HP about this.

I expect they'll say that since its an 8-month old computer its normal? and suggest I buy a new battery

Yea, thats actually odd. I had my first HP Laptop (a DV5000t) for a year or so...and I only lost 2% of the total battery charge.

Get HP to replace it if the batter check things doesn't work.
