That's what it says when I go into control panel>system. I just reformatted 2 days ago. Is this normal? I am not using a cracked Vista or anything of the sort. This pc came with Vista pre-installed. I click the activate windows now and it says my product key for vista home premium is invalid. I never typed in a key though...Is this serious? What happens after the 2 days? Should I call HP and find out *** is going on.

try the key at the back of laptop first.
I think u can register vista online directly
if the activation said not able to register online
I think somehow it will able to generate a series of number that allow u to call microsoft and register through phone. -
Theres a key already in by default and when i first got my laptop i didnt have to enter anything in. all i did was restore my pc back to factory settings.

Use the keys on the bottom, then call Microsoft to activate.

"You reformat your hard disk. Reformatting erases your activation status. In this case, you’ll have 30 days to activate Windows again."
Ok. Re-activated it. Phew.
2 day(s) until automatic activation. Activate Windows now
