In a recent conversation with an HP customer service rep, he said that 2 hard drives would fit in an R3000, he said if I wanted to do this to call a service rep for assistance. When I get my R3000Z I'm going to see if this is possible, if it is, I think I'll try it.

Has anybody else heard about this?

I am not sure about 2 hard drives ..... I think there is only one slot for HD on those notebooks. I 've never heard about that.

This can't be done on the R3000Z's. This unit will only support 1 integrated HDD. You can get modular HDD's for the NC series with their MultiBay, but not for this unit. You can connect an external HDD using a USB 2.0 or Firewire HDD cage. This will probably be the best way to get a secondary HDD on this system. You could upgrade your current HDD in your R3000z with a 7200rpm HDD and then put the old one in the external 2.5" drive cage and you're done. You can get some drive cages that are only a bit larger than the drive itself. You can then carry it around with you in a shirt pocket if you wanted.

Here's a list of enclosures from Newegg:

I like the Enermax model, also has a powercable if your USB ports don't provide enough power, an added plus:
