first, what is the max RAM it can handle
second, how do i convince 3 little sisters they need to remove the dust bunnies from the inside of their laptop? (dv2000)

In regards to the sisters, you could just offer to do it for them. Wouldn't take too much time, and it would solve the problem -
They're sharp on my "let's tweak dept", but that thing runs hot to the point you can feel it 4 feet away. -

The dv2000 looks like it will support up to 2 GB's of DDR2 PC2-5300 which is about $25-30 at Newegg. Just buy the 2 X 1 GB kit so they are a matched set to enable the dual channel memory.
As far as the girls go just send them shopping and do it while there gone!!! HeHe...

If it's an AMD dv2000z it'll support 4GB. I put 4GB in my dv9000z (same generation, larger screen). Crucial is my favorite notebook memory brand. I'm not sure about Intel dv2000t's, Intel was much later with 4GB support. You will, of course, need a 64-bit OS to make full use of 4GB.
