was having some problems with vista basic on my brand new 2000t... so am in the process of upgrading to ultimate 64bit. Install went great and everything is working well so far; downloading MS Office trial now to see how that goes.

I would install 32-bit Vista Ultimate over 64-bit simply because of the poor driver support. You most likely won't see any improvements by running the 64-bit OS over 32-bit for while.

Of course, it is very cool to run x64.

Thanks Wingsbr, and yes, the driver support is horrendous, half the things I installed wouldn't want to start up, and if i wanted to uninstall a program I had to do it manually, because most of my programs were installed in program files x86. I must say, 64 bit is way more trouble than it is worth.

well i seem to have everything working in vista 64bit... and much better than it was working with the hp installed vista... maybe just because all the hp stuff is gone! anyway, so far I have all the drivers that I need; built in webcam, itunes, smartphone, audio, etc....

Am a happy camper... and i dont have the load on the cpu I had before. Oh, Oblivion is running well at medium setting with everythng on except anti aliasing; dont know the frame rate yet; have to figure out how to get it.

slocraiger: which dv2000t model do you have (i.e. 2000, 2100, 2200)? which sound driver are you using?
