Ok, i am looking at buying the zx6000 series notebook with a 200m GPU, but i am just wondering, you guys that have the zx6000 or something with a 200M GPU, can you tell me a bit about the preformance? I'll be playing Farcry, so its very important to me.
And if the 200M wouldn't work fery well, please halp me pick a different PC with a better GPU for $1000 (+/- $100)

    Scratch that one, NEW MACHINE!!!

I won't have my laptop until 6/9, so i cant tell you first hand, but i have read that with medium/low settings you can get framerate in the mid 20s. It depends on the amount of ram and processor speed you have also, but the biggest part is the GPU. I would say that the game is most likely playable, but you wont get a lot of the advanced effects or any of the high details. If you wanna play far cry alot, use the dell coupons and buy yourself a I9300, it will do better than the ZV6000. However if you still think it is playable, go for the ZV6000. Once again, i dont have my laptop, and have only heard this information. I will post my results with the game soon after recieving my laptop.

ya, if i can get it in the 40's then i'll be fine with it, so i might have to OC it and put it on lowest settings with no AA or anything.

    Buying one of these:
    ~~Averatec:amd3000+/512mb/80gb/integrated gfx $1000

I got a 3dmark03 score (old, I know, but I was comparing with my ancient other computer) of slightly over 1500. Incidentally, I just installed the demo of Far Cry to play with and test framerates and I got approximately 30fps at 1024x768x32, with a medium quality level. It was pretty usable (or it would be, if I had a real mouse instead of this trackpad). I don't believe I had AA on, though.

Qbwiz, when you ran the Far Cry demo, were you using the 200m? If so, were you using strickly dedicated memory, or were you using dedicated along with system memory?

If you configure a Dell I9300 with a Geforce 6800 and skimp on the CPU and order it with 256 MB memory (Buy memory from NewEgg.com it’s a lot cheaper) Use a $750 off or better coupon code (they almost always have the coupon codes) You can get a computer around your price range that will run Farcry smoothly with everything on full. I know this for a fact, because I play Farcry on my I9300. It runs the game better than my desktop with a Radeon 9600 and an XP 3200 Processor.

Games today rely on the GPU. You can get the slowest processor offered by Dell in the 9300 with the 6800 go, it will run games a ton better than if you were using the 200m.

    Dell Inspiron 9300, Pentium M 1.86GHz, 1GB 533MHz DDR2, 256MB nVidia GeForce Go 6800, 17" LG WUXGA+, 60GB HDD (7200rpm), DVD+-RW

I was using the 200m. I don't know whether I was using strictly dedicated memory, or also using some system memory. Do you know how I could find out?

all I know is the 200m will get you like less than 300 points in 3DMark05 and my Dell 9300 with out O/C gets over 3000.

    also I should add my DT with a 1.7 P4 & NVIDIA 5200 gets like 265

some where in this section someone posted the ZV6000 only gets 10fps in DooM3.

so if you are a gamer this is not the notebook for you.

Get a Dell I6000 with a 128mb X300 (can get 1800 in 3DMark05 after OC) or an Emachines M6811 from MacUniverse for only $825.

The xpress 200m gets about 670 on 3dmark05 stock (where is the 300 score coming from?). The x300 gets a little under 1000 stock. So by benchmarks only, the xpress 200 seems to be 2/3 as powerful as the x300 128.

The i6000 (with x300) is marginally better graphics-wise than an r4000, but neither would be considered serious contenders.

But the dell 9300 with the go6800 is definitely the best value for serious gaming capability out there right now. As long as you get a screen you like [ :D] With good coupons, you can get a decent 9300 for about $1250.
