I am seriously considering upgrading from my 2009 MacBook Pro to the new dm4t model. I have only been able to see the dark umber in person, but am interested in what the Steel Gray color looks like. HP doesn't have any good photos on their website that I can find for it. Does anyone here have photos or videos of the laptop in this color? Is it really a steel gray, or more of a gold-gray mix? How about the etching? I prefer it without, but if it is subtle I probably won't mind it (hate the etching on the Envy's).
Beyond the looks... will this laptop be good for HD video editing? I doubt I will be doing much gaming aside from logging into my old EQ2 account to check out how it performs ... however I need it to be able to handle video editing and Adobe Photoshop. In my cart now I have the i5-2430M processor, Radeon HD 7470M graphics card, 1600x900 screen upgrade, and backlit keyboard upgrades.
How does the 1600x900 screen render colors? I will be doing a lot with photos, graphics, and videos and need a bright screen with true color renders - hoping it will be comparable to my current 2009 MBP at the very least only higher resolution.
Thanks for any input, tempted to checkout my cart but not having been able to see this computer in person I am a little hesitant!

Performance wise, going from a C2D to an I series Sandy bridge is a Major step up. It should be able to handle the video processing just fine. 7200 Hdd is fine but an SSD would really help the speed too. Video editing takes a lot of space though, so its understandable that an SSD would not be feasible.
As for the screen/color... can't help you there. -
I've seen one of these in person; the "steel gray" is definitely more of a goldish-gray color, though it looks perfectly fine to me.
The 1600x900 screen is...okay. The coloring and viewing angles are pretty good, but the screen itself is a bit grainy. -
Thanks for the replies!
Ichinenjuu: Does the 2012 Steel Grey have the etching pattern on the top and near the touchpad? Also curious if it was a store you saw this model at, which store? I wish the screen was a bit better, grainy doesn't sound too appealing! My husband has the dv6 with brightview screen and I appreciate my MBP screen more after viewing photos on his laptop... hoping the dm4t with screen upgrade is better then the standard HD brightview at least.
MSGaldenzi: Definitely would be a performance upgrade as far as processor goes, although the non-SSD hard drive options are 5400 rpm drives not 7200. I could hopefully upgrade at a later time if needed, something I haven't been able to do with my MBP due to hard-drive compatibility issues. -

It comes with a free upgrade to 640GB drive, just going to go that route for now... same with the memory, sticking to the free upgrade to 6GB and will upgrade later as needed. Got the price down to 699.99 with the 30% code out right now, and that's with the 1600x900 screen, 1GB AMD Radeon HD 7470M graphics card, i5-2430M, backlit keyboard, and Steel Grey upgrades - seems like a good deal.
Also, I called into HP and the sales rep said the etching pattern is not on the newer versions of this model, so it should just be a plain brushed grey metal. =)
