    So I have a HP 2510p with a 6 cell 55wh battery. '

Never had any issues with this battery and can get a cool 6 hours use out of it normally.

Battery has just started acting weird, now only shows 2hrs of battery live. I don't believe the battery can just die on me like this. Normally, I would expect it to not hold a full charge but it is showing a full charge and in RM clock this is what it shows.

    Designed Capacity: 17831 mWH
    Fully Charged Capacity: 17831

    This is clearly wrong.

Any Help needed, Feels like for some reason the O.S. is only seeing 2 cells of the 6 cell battery (3 x 17.8)

So perhaps the cells have gone bad, havn't dropped or shocked it and hardly use the battery.

Try to set XP/Win7 to not suspend/standby when the battery hits < 5%. Allow it to fully discharge. Then allow it to fully charge and see if the designed capacity improves. If not, could try to put it in the freezer.

If still no go, a replacement may be in order. Images of the 2540P battery look to be exactly like a 2510P/2530P, so then these 2540P batteries with 12.5% more capacity could be retrofitted to a 2510P.
