Hi I bought a brand new 2510p, Loving it!
    Accept one issue.

I have always liked to close the lid without anything happening to the computer (sleep or hibernation)
I have edited the preferences so that nothing should happen when I close it.
    but still...

The screen turns black when I close it (of cause) but does not turn on again when I open it. The computer is awake cause it plays music and everything, it even can go to sleep and wake up again and log in (with fingerprint reading) but the screen is still black.
Not just backlight black, its black.

Have anyone had the same problem?
    Please, it is so annoying.

Going to sleep and waking up again when not closing the lid is fine.
It does turn on the screen after I have had the lid closed while it was asleep.

    Thanks!
    -R

So it the screen doesnt come back on no matter what you do?

Check the 'Turn screen off' feature. I think its default at like 15mins

The screen does come back on after it shutsdown of inactivity.
It does come back up from a sleep period where I first put it to sleep then close and open the lid and then wake it up again.
A.F.A.I.K. is this only happening when the computer is tuned on and the lid is cloed and opened.

    The OS is Windows Vista.

Does somebody please know anything about this or do I have a faulty product?

    Try the following:
    1. Update BIOS.
    2. Update Intel graphics driver.
    3. Disable Ambient Light Sensor in BIOS.

If a combination of the above does not work, you most likely have a faulty lid switch, in which case you should get it replaced.

I am having the same problem, the screen doesn't come back on again. What does help in 50% of the cases is to disable the ambient light sensor and then close and open the lid again. However, still hit and miss and quite annoying.
