I have a slight problem with my 2510p. The touchpad enable/disable button does not work after trying the different Synaptics and Quicklaunch drivers available from HP. From my understanding, they should light up when the touchpad is disabled, and turned off otherwise.

Anyone with a 2510p having similar symptoms?

It works fine when only on AC power, but doesn't on battery power.

how about if you uninstall synaptics? All synaptics does is add the sidescroller and other features

The sidescroller IS the useful feature.

Anyway, this is a hardware fault as before the OS is loaded, it's doing the same thing. When I disassemble the switch cover, it looks like the connector wasn't soldered on properly because if force is applied behind to the area around it, it will function. The reason it doesn't seem to work when a battery is connected is because the battery prevents the switch cover from flexing down. It seems like it requires the switch cover to flex a little in the middle where the button is located before it detects the push.

Should I just DOA this or get them to try to replace the switch cover? I hope this can't be related to the motherboard.
