The title says it all, I have several of these machines (Windows XP SP3) all doing the same thing, will hang at the Windows XP screen. When the user is finally able to log in, maybe after 5 or 6 attempts they will have no network connection.

I have the latest BIOS and network card drivers loaded.

So are these notebooks connected to the network via wireless or wired? Are the users trying to login to a domain? When the users are finally able to login and have no network connection does the network adapter that is in use even show up in the device manager?

I forgot to mention that this cycle begins when the user boots up and they have no network connection, in device manager there will be a yellow exclamation point next to the ethernet adapter, then the user reboots and it just goes on and on and on.

I have imaged and deployed about 100 of these machines and it seems to be an issue with only a handful.

This link is pretty close to what is going on with my machines. (we have these models as well) I updated the BIOS and network drivers but without success.

Sounds like either a bios or hardware issue. It's also possible that your windows image isn't quite right. It would be a good test to install windows from a Windows XP cd and then install all the current drivers for HP's website. If that doesn't work it's time to call tech support I think.
