I just got my 2530p. The problem with my 2530p is the fan noise. It is on constantly. I would think that the speed of the cpu fan should go up and down?
Any comments or help?
Thanks

The fan on my 2530p is almost never on. The first thing to check is to make sure it's not overheating. Search for a program called coretemp, it'll display cpu temperatures.

There's an option in the BIOS "Fan always on when using AC" or something like that. Ensure that's disabled. If you fan still stays on then as advised, use speedfan or some other software to check CPU temps. If CPU temps are highish (> 60 degrees) which would engage the fan then the CPU/heatsink may need to looked at to ensure the heatsink is dissipating heating effectively. Eg: may need to check the heatpad/thermal paste is conducting heat. -
Thanks for the advice. I sendt it back to HP and will get a new one. Something was very wrong with my 2530p.

Glad you got it sorted, sometimes sending it back is the best option.

I got my new 2530p in the mail today. It was silent, as it should be, so I am pleased with the way things turned out.
I am now installing a intel 80 GB ssd in it. Looking forward to the increase in speed. -
Glad to hear it! I thought about getting an Intel SSD for mine but for less than the cost of the 80GB SSD I got a 160GB hard drive for it.

I tested the Intel SSD with HD tune and got a average output of 174 mb. I am very happy with the results, but after installing vista, office and some small programs I onliy have about 50GB of space left.

That was my issue...I also need to have several Virtual Machines for school use. I could carry around a large USB harddrive but that would be yet one more thing I'd have to carry and deal with. One of these days I might save up enough pennies for the 160GB Intel SSD...

I might save some money and get the 160GD Intel ssd when it comes out. But here in Norway its expensive.
Now a like my 2530p alot. Its a great pc, the right size and weight and the battery is good. Just happy with it now -
Oh serious? These guys are supposed to be quiet?
Time to make that change in the BIOS.
