i heard a rumor of a bios that lets the user change the shared memory from 128 to 256.
Can anyone confirme this
thanks

I don't believe that is true. That would give you 384 MB on an integrated chip.

No, that's not true. You can add only 128mb shared + the 128mb dedicated
-
in the bios its set to 128 is that shared or dedicated?
how do i set up the other one (shared/dedicated) is this a driver related option? -
Hmm, on my computer, the integrated graphics is shared, and it shows up as 128 MB in the BIOS. So it must be shared? You have 1536 MB RAM, so if you are sharing the full 128 MB, you should have 1408 MB RAM. You can check this by going into your properties window by right-clicking on My Computer. It lists your processor and available RAM there.

Hi pNin01,
I posted this on another thread, but I believe it applies here as well. The particular computer model is what designates what dedicated memory is installed in the particular laptop. Look at the various config menus to verify.
The 5030 has a 128meg dedicated ram option installed. I have a designated 1024 meg of system ram when UMA is disabled in the bios, and 872 meg when the 128 meg option with uma enabled is selected. The ATI Xpress 200m in this machine does have 128 meg of dedicated video memory. This is not a part of the system RAM, while you can further allocate up to an additional 128 meg of system ram through the use of the SidePort and UMA option.
The shared memory option does not even appear in the BIOS menu until the UMA and Sideport option has been selected. -
In my zv6000, I have 128mb dedicated + 128 shared in bios = 256 total. Didn't really make any noticable difference though.
256 shared video mem
