I'm going to buy either an HP 2740p or a Lenovo x201 tablet. I'm a lawyer, and my primary use will be to hand mark documents.
I will not be able to handwrite without my palm touching the screen. A colleague of mine has an x201, and it works wonderfully when he handerwiters with his palm on the screen -- the technology seems to reject his palm and only accept the pen marks. From reviews of the 2740p, I've read that the palm can interfere more with handwriting because there is not a "palm rejection" technology. My understanding is that the 2740p rejects all hand touches when the pen is on the screen, but that when you lift the pen to write another word, cross a "t", etc., it does not work well.
I otherwise very much would prefer the 2740p, as I would greatly prefer the longer palm rest for typing.
I unfortunately am not in a place where I can test the 2740p. Is there anyone out there with the 2740p who has experience with the issue of handwriting while resting your palm on the screen and how well it works?
Thanks!

Yes, all the Wacom digitizers in HP tablets disengage the touch mode when the pen nears the screen. Even on the 2740p.
There's a thread over at the sister site, TabletPCreview with owner impressions of the 2740p. Lots of good info.
