I was thinking of doing the 2G memory upgrade. What brands out there will work.. I see 667 5300 and 667 5400 on neweggs site.. I see Kingston, mushkin, and Corsair value select memory. Can someone give me a link to some good memory that is compatible and not to expensive?

You can get some memory which is sold in pairs, so when installed into your notebook, they will run in dual channel. I have linked some below:

Alternatively, you can get two modules of 1 GB density, and they may run in dual channel. They are not guaranteed to run in dual channel, because they are not a matched pair. Link below:

Dual Channel doesn't make a massive difference in performance. Only when you are doing some memory intensive tasks, that require large bandwidths, dual channel won't help all that much. -

Since you have an AMD notebook I recommend buying a pair of these. You might be able to find them cheaper elsewhere. They'll run dual channel. AMD chips are picky and Crucial makes the most AMD-friendly memory.

Anyone tried the corsair kit? It looks good for the price.. I just dont know if its compatable.. and do I need 667 5300 or 5400?? Also is it worth the upgrade to go from 1G to 2G? I do have a dual boot setup with XP and Vista. I figure I can sell my old memory on ebay or in a forum for 75$ or so.

I haven't ried the kit, but I am sure it will be good. Corsair is a very good brand of RAM, so I don't think it will dissapoint. There is no difference between PC5400 and PC5300: 667 x 8 = 5336 - Some people round the number up, some round it down.
If you play games alot, then 2 GB is certainly recommened. This is because newer games will use this RAM. Games like Battlefield 2/2142 use a lot of RAM, and if you have a powerful graphics card, the game will not take full advantage of it. -
I only have a GO 6150 so I dont play to many games... Ive been trying to find some type of performance driver for this video chipset with out luck.. maybe the 2G upgrade isnt worth it?

To get an idea of how much RAM you use, go to Task Manager (Hold Ctrl and Alt, then press Del), and click the Performance tab. In the "PF Usage", you should be able to see how much RAM you are using. If you don't go above the 1 GB you have now, then the extra RAM isn't worth it.

Yeah, ive been watching the memory usage already.. its around 400-600megs in Vista.. not near as much in XP. Maybe its not worth the upgrade.
