it be dual channel with 3gb ie 2gb +1gb or only 2gb with 1 gb +1gb ? is there a big difference in performace between single channel and dual ? does it have to be same brand for DC ?
    THANKS

It should enable DC even with 3GB RAM since any new Intel chipset above the i945 support flex memory system. As for as the benefits of SC vs DC, its not too much. You wont notice any difference in everyday usage since SC provides enough bandwidth. It will only be noticable in programs which rely on bandwidth(possibly Photoshop) to notice any benefits. It doesnt have to be the same brand, although if you use modules from the same brand it will have higher chances of compatibility. Currently I am using DC mode with 2 different brands of memory, so it is not a necessity.

there is no big performance difference between running with or without dual channel option. the difference in performance should be around 5 %.

but if you are working with vista, you will see better performance with 3 GB.

so the 3gb comes with a 1 and a 2 gig stick and you're going to get another 2 gb stick to run 4gb?
