    Hi all
I've bought an 2nd gen envy15 from ebay.com, just waiting for it to cross over the pond. Question is, will there be any major differences in terms of keyboard layout since I've never used a US system before? Also will a normal US-UK plug adapter be okay for the laptop?
also hoping i dont get hit with a massive import tax :/

    hello mate,

The keyboard layout is slightly different but you will soon get used to it.
@ and " are transposed, the \ is by the return key and the return key is half height. Also there is no £ symbol.

Dont bother with a US to UK adapter, just pick up a clover style uk power lead. They are about £2 from ebuyer. You may even have some if you have had laptops before.

Finally expect to get hit with customs, I have only ever gotten 1 laptop through without paying customs for it. Expect to pay about 20%

I was looking at the refurbs too, but they dont seem that much cheaper than the full pice envy's, how much did you snag one for?

also, do you have any kind of return policy or 90-day warranty? I would make sure to test it thoroughly to ensure you don't have the black screen issue.

my wife and I have purchased four of them over the past six months, one refurb, and two were returned to HP for refund due to the black screen problem. just received the refurb and so far it runs great, however, the SSD is slightly slower in the crystaldiskmark scores. I haven't noticed any difference in application load times. I'm not sure how RAM affects SSD performance; however the refurb has less RAM, perhaps that is why it's drive scores lower

im taking a maajor gamble with this lol you have no idea! the actual cost was £620 and if i lived in the US that'd be it because of free shipping.. :/
factor in about £80 for p&P and then that 20% it's likely to reach a figure around the £800s..

also i phoned HP UK support and the lovely scottish lass was 'bamboozled' as to what an envy is, i.e. it comes with 90 days warranty but if something goes wrong its back to the US.. or are there any independent repair ppl in the UK for this sort of thing? then again the only issue im worried about is the black screen thing but it's been solved by the latest bios update for some people?

but hopefully it'll all work out..
yeh awesome ive got a 'clover plug' from my last laptop, that should do the trick.

    when does it arrive?

I have a envy 14 on order and I have a envy 15 coming from the US too.
Hoping the 15 will be here by Fri so I will get a nice customs bill too.
