So, if I understand correctly, the 3/3/3 warranty will provide in home service. Is this correct? Will it apply anywhere in the USA?

    Thanks!

Yes, it would apply everywhere in the US. Might even be worldwide but I'm not certain.

After reading your lemon story, I figure it may be worth the additional price, assuming I get a competent technician.

    Thanks.

It applies in the country where you purchased your notebook. Beyond that, onsite service may not be available in every country, so HP will apply the last 3 as they wish. 3-years warranty will be standard everywhere, so the difference is onsite vs offsite.

What serial number are they referring to on that warranty site?

Edit: Nevermind, I found how to find the serial number. Could anyone who has an 8510p state what the terms are for the warranty? Specifically, what does it say about international service? I would like to know since I will only be using an 8510p for one year after I order in the US then taking it to Europe. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

8510p comes with a 3 year international warranty. Wherever you are HP will service the machine as long as they operate out of that country and can support the model. If not then you'll have to go to the nearest country where they can do the repairs.

Hey Ackeron, quick question, unrelated to warranty, but related to 8510p.

On the HP site, the model you have says it comes with 2GB of RAM. On the BLT website, where you ordered from, it says it only comes with 1GB.

So my question is did yours come with 1 or 2GB?

    Thanks!

Mmm well when I ordered my model it said only 1gb on both the BLT and HP websites. Maybe it's changed now I dunno :O

    Mine is uh...RM269UT I think.

Ho hum...apparently my laptop does not exist anymore on HP.com. Looks like they pulled it due to high demand ha ha ha. Good thing shopBLT.com still has a few hundred in stock. I'd keep an eye on their numbers though just in case...

    I nabbed a 1gb Corsair stick with a $10 rebate to put in my 8510p...ended up being $39.99 :)

Sweet, thanks. Looks like a little discrepancy I suppose. You do have bluetooth though, correct?

Yep. Damn icon shows up all the time in the system tray looking for Bluetooth devices so it can feel special :) I haven't' had time to find out how to turn it off yet, or at least get rid of the icon.
