where is the 3rd choice? 6490m pretty much wasted imo..

What sort of work will you be doing on this laptop? Unless you're doing CPU intensive work on the road, the i7 is overkill.
The i5 is fine for most of the population. I'd upgrade the GPU to the 6770M.

The 6490M isn't too bad but having a bit more GPU power is always something nice to have.
I'd also get a 9cell battery as well. It'll raise your laptop about 1 inch in the back but the extra computing time is worth it.

If there is a faster HD option for 10-20 bucks it is a good upgrade.

Upgrade to the 6770M. It's only $25 and it's significantly more powerful. It'll open so many doors if you ever plan on trying any GPU-intensive games.
