    3 months old dv8210us suddenly running slow

    first was the keyboard cap key problem that I got use to, now the laptop take for ever to do anything specially booting up, I had took out all the bloat wares the first day I got the laptop. I try programs like ad-aware, registry cleaner, and macfee, still could not fix the problem. decided to defrag. the hard drive, it took 6 hrs. to defrag. just 34% of the hd. does anyone out there got the same problem, or a fix for the slow problem. I will appreciate any help.

    Worst case scenario: use SpinRite to see if your HD is going bad. It's a bit expensive though. Is the HD making any strange noises?

    Run the tests from the BIOS that test the RAM and the HARD DRIVE...

    If that turns out "ok", run a complete fix errors SCANDISK, then try defrag again.

    thank you all for the reply, the HD is not making any funny noise. I did the BIOS HD test, it came back ok. I will try the RAM test, if that's not working I am doing a HP factory restore.

    check your task manager's process list. What process is taking up the CPU cycles and/or memory? This is how you find out what program is using your CPU and not allowing you to use it.
