I have a chance to buy a new dell with a 3.2,9700,1gb ddr400,8x dual layer burner,60gb hd for the same price as the compact I ordered with a 3400, 1gb 2700,go440 64mb,60gb hd 4200,dvd. All other hardware is about the same.
I hate intel and LOVE AMD but, it sounds like a good deal.

    Why do you hate intel?
    Why do you love AMD?

I have always had AMD from my first new k-2 350. I know if not for AMD we would not have come so far in such a short time and for so little money.
I can get it for $1450

I am going to stick with the 3400 and see how I like it.

Is the 3400 in HP/comp notebooks a desktop or mobile cpu?

It's the DTR version (81W max), not the Mobile version (62W max). Though I've been able to run my 3200+ at Low-Voltage voltage levels using ClockGen (see the Undervolting thread).
