good hearin, i just customize one for the fun of it to see how it compared to the %30 off coupon code i used with same specs and it came out to $842.79 just for the laptop itself without the tax. Abit more than it was the last time, which was $783 for me.. but still a good deal. Better buy this asap if interested cause it probably is gonna last only 2 days like the last one

I just got my 9500 this evening with the 20% coupon (after I tried to order with the most recent 30% coupon only to find it canceled), and now the 30% pops back up. Any chance would credit my account? Thanks.

HP has declined previous requests to match the coupon prices. Only thing you can do is return the laptop and rebuy with the coupon.

I just recieved my HP yesterday, ordered with the 20% off coupon. I asked for a return slip because I was ready to order the new 30% off laptop. They asked me if they could credit me the difference instead. Thanks for the heads up.

zfactor, you are saying you would buy the HP if it had the 8600 gt? Being that HP does not offer the higher res screens on the dv2500 and dv6500 why don't you just go back and reorder your dell 1500 with the 8600 gt and regular xga?

I understand why you don't want to go back to dell after 5 replacement grainy screen systems. But all those replacements were the higher res displays. But as we all know, the dell xga systems are not getting the complaints. I would face the reality of this and get the system that will probably fit your needs the most which would be a dell with high end GPU and regular old wxga. As you are finding out, the higher res xga+ is and has effected many notebook makers with grainy screens.

Thanks for the post!!!! Added to your rep...

The laptop I ordered two weeks ago with the 20% was shipped today... guess I'll have to send it back... I just ordered the new one a couple of minutes ago... I hope they don't canx my second order....

I would not have done this, except when I called hp about the other missing 30% rebate, the lady sounded like she was eating food, then told me to email hp sales... I emailed them and they never responded... that was two weeks ago. And I'm a repeat customer and recommend their products to everyone...

I have more system for a better price:

HP Pavilion dv6500t customizable Notebook PC
Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
    Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7700 (2.40 GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
    15.4" WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
    2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
HP Imprint Finish (Radiance) + Microphone
    Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection and Bluetooth(TM)
    250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
    No TV Tuner w/remote control

I just got off the phone with hp. they are crediting my card for the difference between the original 20% coupon and the new 30% coupon. I had no trouble at all. they were very helpful and I'm super happy. I used to totally be a Dell man. Now I only recommend HPs. i gotta sell my dell stock and get HP instead :)

I only wish they would have higher resolution displays on their laptops. like 1900x1200. I was only able to get 1680x1050 on my dv9500.

They seem to be more receptive this time around as far as just refunding the 10 percent discount if you had originally ordered with the 20 % coupon. I suspect this might be because of all the returns earlier this month. I called and said I wanted to return my laptop and just re-order it at the cheaper price. That what's cool with them, so they just refunded the difference.

You need to order each computer separately, the system will only take a coupon for one item. But, you can definitely get both laptops 30% by order them separately.

I'm not sure if I'm completely missing something...but I can't seem to get this coupon to work. I've finally got the funds to order the computer I've been ogling for quite some time now.

I'm wondering if HP will allow me to use the coupon even though I already get the student pricing? I created a laptop that came to over $999, and tried entering the code in the box, but it tells me that code can't be applied to the laptop. Is this because I get the student pricing already, or am I just missing something completely?

EDIT: Nevermind, I logged in to my non-student account and I can actually upgrade a TON of stuff for a cheaper price. Wooohoo!

First time poster but I've been reading this site for over 3 weeks. I just got my hp dv9500t on Friday Sept 28, 2007 and spent the weekend tweaking it out. I noticed this new discount this morning so I called them up and they refunded $168.00 to my credit card. They have a few more options with the new coupon such as the bigger hard drive but I'm more than happy to get the $168.00 and run. The call took about 15 minutes and most of that was on hold while the rep pulled up the order and tested the code, then she got approval and gave me my confirmation and tada! Very nice!!

    Kudos to all

I ordered a new system last week... it was shown as shipped over the weekend... found this coupon sunday, and, of course, ordered a new system with the new coupon. Called HP to see if I could cancel the second order and keep the first order, but with them providing a discount. Lady said to send the first laptop back, once it arrived.

Seems like a waste of money for them... I more than likely will call back to see if another rep will change his or her mind and simply provide me with the credit. Although the second laptop does have more stuff, and at a lower price.

For those who got rebates - you have any idea how your rebate was calculated? Weird thing is the purchase price of the DV9500 that I ordered was exactly 1649.99 with the 20% discount + tax - my original bill was 1399.19.

I called HP and they said that I'll be getting a total rebate of $131 to be credited back to my card. I realized that the amount that I should be paying (with 30% discount and tax) should amount to $1224.29 ergo a price difference of about $174.90.

The guy who I got to talk to said the 10% discount was calculated on the $1399.19 or something like that. I didn't really understand him (in more ways than one).

Were your calculations correct? Did you get the returned value you were expecting?

Thanks again. I need to know what you guys did - the extra $40 is I think still a big deal. Thanks again.

I can't believe they're even letting you guys get ANY REBATE - for most in person and online purchases - a sale is a sale and if you buy it at some sale price - you can't ask for money back if they have an even better sale down the road. That's usually just not how it works.... SO FEEL LUCKY.

Also, If you saw the 30% sales before - you should have realized that they'd be doing another 30% sale sometime and waited... The ONLY reason why they give you any money back is because with their policy and only with computers... you could plausibly return your machine and reorder a new one w/ a better sale.

Just jumping in here, I haven't read all the posts, but I did get a 30% discount after ordering using a 20% discount coupon. I ordered on Sept 8th, late at night. On Sept 10th I saw a post notifying everyone about the 30% coupon. I called HP to cancel my order and when asked why I was canceling, I politely explained that I was going to reorder using the 30% coupon. They sent me to a supervisor who authorized the 30% on my purchase. She said that it would go through as a 20% purchase and the extra 10% would follow in 10 days. I had to call and remind them about the extra discount. I have verified with my credit card company that I did receive the additional 10%. It's worth a call to see if you can get the 30%.
    Loving my laptop.

Actually, many large stores have a price protection policy. It is not that we should "feel lucky" I think it is more like "good business" on HPs part. Try calling dell after seeing a rebate... they pretend like it does not exist, then attempt to sell you a system with $500 worth of warranty attached. HP has it right, dude. Go to dell....... if you want to get the shaft.

Right.... OK, so after this next 30% rebate is up, you are 100% sure they will offer a new one within a couple of weeks? They might, but unless you have access to materials that you should not, you don't know either. Plus, the other 20% coupon was running out, so people leaped in and got what they could while the getting was good.

No harm, no foul... HP is moving systems, before they switch to a new model... based on how well they are doing, I don't think they are worried about a couple of money hungry forum members (me included) asking for a couple of dollars here and there... I'd bet all of us together at least recommend an HP to one or two people a year... HP will make their money back from us.....

Plus, they are making good money:

    ----------------------------
    ...........................Q3 FY07............... Q3 FY06............. Y/Y
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    Net revenue ($B)...... $25.4................ $21.9.............. 16%
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for the lecture, but no thanks....

How are you getting the code to work on the dv6500t laptops?

I can only get it to work on the dv9500t or that special edition dv6500t.

jflucena - My purchase was originally $1451.00 but that included the $99.99 warranty. When I talked to the rep she told me that she could only apply the 30% rebate on the pc and not the warranty portion of the total. So my number was off about ~$30.00 from theirs. Either way I'm still happy to get the difference between the two discount codes. Its pretty cool of HP imho. So maybe your difference in numbers is something similar.

Okay, here's how my thinking goes...An HP laptop (like a Dell) usually costs more or equivalent to an even more souped up laptop from all of those other laptop sites. It's usually the former of the two. ...So why would anybody want to buy an HP not on sale. ..And a 20% coupon just barely made the HP 9500t I configed less than other systems I configed elsewhere that were more souped up including GT cards. ...So it was less but by an amount that I didn't care about in that I could get one from a more reputable site and a GT card.... so a 30% off coupon only made the system cheap enough such that it's actually cheaper than other sites considering reputation and gt cards and whatnot. ...So when I didn't get the last 30% off coupon - I certainly wasn't about to go for the 20% - I'd rather just get a sager 2090 off powernotebooks.com -- so it was either wait for another 30% or order elsewhere.. So yeah, I worded 'this' in a terrible manner.

But hell, the only way I'd recommend HP to another is by telling them to get one IF there's a 30% off sale - otherwise I'd point them straight to another site like pwrntbks/pc torque/cyber power/ ibuy.

Everytime I build a system on powernotebooks it always cost more than an equal dell or hp at full price... (edit: Oh, you mentioned the 9x hp... to big for me, I went shopping for a 15.4... I see your point... could have been the same, I don't know...)

I agree with you though, only an idiot would purchase a dell or hp at full price.... unless they needed a laptop at that moment in time and could not wait.... they always have some rebates/coupons floating around someplace....

While I would tend to agree with you, like others have said; HP does have a price protection policy which does apply to everything except mail-in rebates. So technically HP has no choice but to give partial credit refunds to people who ordered with the 20% coupon.
