Yup! That's right, HP now has the "319MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS " available on their CTO site for +$49.
TIME TO ORDER GUYS!!!![]()
http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/cto/computer_customize_components.do
I'll be calling them today and getting my laptop switched out![]()
Also, windows ultimate is available too!
-
How will you be getting your laptop switched out?
-
darn it, I wanna sell my current one ...
he's probably still under that 20 days thing ... -
-
says unavailable now lol
-
As for me getting my laptop switched out, I got a replacement laptop and it still has alot of issues (overheating, mic still doesnt work functionally, HORRIBLE SEC screen) so that's why im gonna get it switched out.
I just checked the 6500x series, and they have the HD DVD option available now with a 383MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS card for $79.
The $49 grahics card is for the dv2500x
Also, the 6500x has a new special edition available in a silver trim.
Sweet! too bad the HD DVD isn't available on the 2500 series -
It really isn't all that much better than an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 with the exception that it's compatible with DX10.
-
Alot of people we're waiting for a discrete GPU option (including myself), so that's why I posted this to let them know
-
This is great news! What about the Intel Robson/Turbo Memory thing any ETA?
-
-
http://news.com.com/HP+says+no+to+Intels+Turbo+Memory/2100-1004_3-6188531.html?tag=nefd.top -
I just got a 9500 today max out(no 4 GB RAM & no HD drive) and the guy told me that i can use Turbo Memory with vista 64 bit
-
As I was hoping the GeForce 8400M also adds an HDMI port (cable not included). Also, looking at the components, it looks to be nicely Linux compliant now.
-
I'm thinking about picking up a dv6500t before i go off to school. What would the 8400M GS be capable of doing? I'm not expecting miracles, I'm just a bit curious. Thanks.

R4000 posted this link in another topic, it performs well and will probably be able to run games as good if not better than the go7400 -
Try "way better" than the Go7400. The scores up by almost double in synthetic benchmarks, and match the scores of the underclocked X1600 in the original MacBook Pro.
-
it will definately perform better than both the 7400go and x1400
-
Yay! Good news from HP. Now it's only a matter of time, or rather 4-5 months, before they roll out the discounts.
-
i was considering hp, but I don't have that kind of time to wait for good deals. I hope dell offers better prices than hp.
-
Awesome, that sounds great.
-
Is amount of video memory and price the only difference between the dv2500 and dv6500 nvidia cards?
-
-
Anyone knows if there's some sorta "trade-in-exchange" program that HP has?
I only got mine about 2 months... lol -
-
Does anybody have any reviews of this card or a comparable computer so we can see it in action?
-
The dv2500t 8400M GS has only 64mb dedicated memory while the other has 128mb I'm thinking.
-
-
He never said they weren't dedicated, he just specified they have different amounts of dedicated memory.
-
Anyone know the settings the 8400M will be able to hand Battlefield 2142?
-
Probably, just not at fully maxed out settings. I'd assume you'd be able to get along all right with mostly medium settings, but maybe have a few of the more demanding settings turned to low.
-
How strong is the 8400m gs? It won't beat f3sv with 8600m gs would it?
-
the 8600 is better but the 8400 is good enough unless you're a hardcore gamer. and the build on the hp should be much better
-
uh i think the video cards for the 2500 and the 6500 are different.
the 6500 has a 383 mb geforce 8400M GS compared to the 319 mb one in the 2500. I was configuring one on costco, and clicking the blurb that gives you an indepth look at the cards says "
The NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) 8400M GS delivers improved quality and performance levels in 3D graphics. If configured with the 1GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm), there will be 128MB dedicated memory and up to 255MB shared memory. If configured with the 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm), there will be 128MB dedicated memory and up to 767MB shared memory."
yet the 2 cards have different mb's, so its kinda weird. -
I mean , I understand the better graphics card and all. But for those of you who already own a dv6000t CTO why would you want to sell your current system?
What because you play games on your laptop? I honestly don't understand the concept, I mean you have a perfectly good machine; better than thousands of individuals trolling these boards.
In my opinion, you just come off as somebody who who has like p*n*s envy or something... -
Well, for the same amount of money, I will get a faster and more efficient processor and a DX10 graphic card that kick butt (for that price), and more battery life, so why not?
-
What are you doing on your current laptop that's so important that you have to upgrade to basically a better graphics card. The processor is not anything SUPER upgraded, you won't be able to tell much difference from your current core 2 duo.
Is your current machine up to standards for what you use it for?
Or like I said has the whole "envy" thing got you? -
lol, yeah, definitely that "envy" thing...
Anyway, I'm definitely aiming for that graphic card, all that santa rosa, n wireless, finger reader, I can all care less. -
I choose to play my games on my XBOX 360 hooked up to my LCD flat panel TV anyway.
I leave the computer for well, computer stuff! -
Any chance the GPU could be boosted up to a 8600M GS or GT before September? I know, I'm pretty greedy.
-
-
-
I understand that, the point was why scrap your new laptop for something newer?
Hell if we all did that, we'd be driving the newest version of car, etc..
So am I supposed to ditch my two month old dv6000t for the dv6500? Just for a better graphics card?
What's the point? -
-
I just ordered one
-
The best investment you can make is in a TiVo. Then you start skipping commercials, and the urge to constantly buy new stuff really dies down. It might sound strange, but it was true for me at least. -
Commercials never really gave me incentive to buy stuff. If anything, it encouraged me to hate the product even more- unless it's very very clever.
-
Commercials work, that's why advertising is a $100 billion industry. The fact that it works but you believe it doesn't goes to show just how well it works....
-
-
Most people do research before they buy... but it doesn't mean the advertising had no effect.
Do you have no opinions whatsoever about brands before you buy? Even of brands you have no first hand experience with? -
Ahh well I do give pref to a name that I know like HP/Dell. But thats only because I know im not going to be getting ripped off or something.
319MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS IS HERE!!!!
