Hey guys,
just a very quick question. I am getting a dv6t quad
Should I get the 32GB mSSD Hard Drive Acceleration Cache or the 750GB 7200 rpm Hybrid Hard Drive since I cant get both? I tried looking for it but couldnt find in in this forum! Also, if I get the 5400 rpm 1 TB (for more space) would having a mSSD32 GB help, or should I just get the 750 GB Hybrid?
which combination woudl give good boot up times and would be good for occasional gaming?
Thanks

Basically its a matter of preference.
EDIT: One benefit of going with the Hybrid drive, is you can install your own mSATA drive and use it to re-install the OS onto. That way you get a real SSD (in the same slot the 32GB mSSD cache drive would be installed into), and can then use the hybrid for storage. Note that the mSATA slot is a different form factor from 2.5" SSD drives. If you go this route you will need to purchase an mSATA drive, not a 2.5" SSD.
Good luck. -
Another thing to consider is if you like to mess with your computer. If you bork your computer with the mSSD configuration, you have to load into linux and format the mSSD in order to boot from your normal hard drive again. I had that issue when attempting to install Ubuntu.
Performance wise, I believe that they are very similar. As Isheldon said, it whether or not you want more space now, or future upgradablility. -

I'd think overall you are probably better off with the mSSD+1TB option, because you get more space AND more cache volume (32GB vs. 4GB on the hybrid). 32GB is enough to cache your entire windows installation and a few programs that you use the most. By the way, I switched my cache mode to "Enhanced" so the mSSD acts as a write through drive instead of a write back drive. This way, all your data is still written to the harddrive all the time, but you still get the fast boot time and program opening time. In the event your mSSD fails, all your data will still be intact. -
32 GB mSSD with 5400 rpm (1 TB) or 750 GB Hybrid 7500 rpm : DV6T QUAD
