    Dear all,

Hi :) I have a question about BIOS to HDD addressing logic. If you remember the old pc, like Pentium 1 where it can't even recognize a 40GB HDD. Do you think the same thing will also happen again in the new lappy...?

    Let's say DV8000, DV5000, V5000z, or the soon X8000?...

Because I am wondering about the 48 bit or 50 or 60 or even more LBA Bios recognition. Assuming that it can not be connected to a HDD larger than 200GB because it's BIOS can not address larger than 30 bit LBA BIOS range. Pardon me for my question. If you find any way to articulate it in a shorter sentence please edit it in the next post.

    Thank you so much,
    Monkey Sings ;-)

Check this out - connecting it externally to a lappy

That limitation is only for boot drives, and even then any BIOS revision from the past two years or so should be OK. I assume you're planning on putting that 3.5" desktop HD into an external enclosure?

The most recent switch was from 24-bit to 48-bit, with 24-bit being limited to 130GB boot drives or so.
