Can anyone tell me if lowering the resolution of my 4K UHD screen from 3840 x 2160 to 1920 x 1080, when using the battery, will save me battery power? I'm thinking that would be an effect way to increase my time away from an outlet on occasion.

Of course!
When you've been on battery a while go to system, then battery to see what's been chewing on your battery.
Most of the time, the screen will be the highest usage of power.
Bluetooth & wifi can use a chunk too but nothing like screen. -
I think resolution won't do much. Brightness though, that's the point where you can save quite a bit.

Agreed, I read the question way too fast lowering the resolution should not help battery life enough to measure

Thanks for the responses, I am aware that lowering the brightness will absolutely save battery power, and going forward I will use the windows utility that allows me to see which devices are using up the most power, no doubt it is the screen though. I'm just not certain why lowering the resolution would not also help much. Would there not be as many pixels to have to power?
The laptop I'm looking at is the spectre x360 15", and as much as the awesome resolution is overkill for me, I'm still leaning that way. I am however in the early stages of my research on premium 15" laptops not meant for gaming. Thanks again! -
Processor and video rendering would indeed be easier, but it's like lowering the desktop resolution on your computer to save battery.. It's negligible and not worth it IMO.
You might as well go play with power saving mode of you're gonna get that extreme.
I can see in an emergency, but why have a racecar if you're gonna putt around! -
I'm thinking of getting the Spectre x360 15" and was thinking the same thing on the QHD screen being overkill. from all the reviews I've seen, it looks gorgeous though
