I want to upgrade my current 3GB memory to 4GB, and I am concerned with the quality of the Memory I bought online, is it true that the memory comes with the machine is more stable and compatible?
-
No to both questions.
-
what he said.
-
Whoever told you that is wrong.
But as far the compatability that could be a good argument. Most memory will work, but you should always find out from other users.
But aftermarket memory is not more or less stable than what comes with your PC. -
And Vista 32bit can only read to 3.5GB.
Adding 33% does not make much of a diffrence when most can not even get up to 3GB anywhy. I think the highest I have gotten was 2.5GB and I had 2 dozen web pages from Opera, 4 word docs, exel, explorer, and media Monkey all going at once. -

you really wont notice much from 3 to 4 but its good to know you have some backup in case you are running lots of apps at the same time and have many internet pages opened
memory you buy is better than HP's, HP puts generic brand ram for as cheap as they can get.
you will ONLY gain the advantage if you have 64bit vista OS which i suspect you dont -
what is the best ram band on the market? since I have two 1.5 Gb Ram right now, would it be OK if I replace one with a 2Gb Ram which is probably from a different brand?
-
1.5GB RAM sticks don't exist. Your computer has a 2GB stick and a 1GB stick inside of it right now. You need to purchase a 2GB stick of RAM, remove the 1GB stick and put the 2GB stick in its place. Some good brands are Corsair, OCZ, G.Skill, Crucial, Kingston, PQI, etc.
What brand/model is your notebook? We want to make sure that you are buying the correct RAM.
