whats up guys, i have some questions concerning memory upgrade with my HP Pavillion dv9500t series laptop. Currently i have 2gb of ram, dual hard drive at 7200 rpm, and Windows Vista. I am thinking about upgrading to 4gb of memory but i am not sure what memory would serve me best. I used to the memory checker on newegg.com for help, but i couldn't find my laptop listed in their list of HP laptop models. Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

    You want DDR2 PC5300 667MHz 200pin So-DIMM RAM.

You can use tools in memory makers site like crucial to know the memory type needed.

Another question. Do brand names on memory matter? Is one brand better/worse than others?

Brand really doesn't matter just make sure they offer a full warranty, have a decent returns policy and MAKE SURE to use memtest 86+ on the each stick when you get them.

There is a guide about this stuff somewhere but you should be able to find it with a google search.

Also check the reviews on Newegg - only trust if there are a lot of them, though, and always Google for other, independent reviews.

not sure if it was mentioned but just so u know unless you have vista 64bit you system will not see or utilize the full 4gb. just a heads up is all.

EDIT: forgot to mention - with vista 32bit the system will see about 3.2gb of ram i think
