I tried reinstalling the Richoe drivers found on the hp site, i restarted the computer a few times already. I am using a 1gb Sandisk SD card, i plugged it in correctly, i am not sure what the issue is? Nothing happens when i plug the card in...

Hmm... I haven't used XP in awhile, but I know that in Vista, the SD card slot is handled by a Microsoft driver, and that the other slots dunctioned using the Ricoh drivers. What driver does device manager show you are using for the SD slot, and does it show as functioning?

You might try "uninstalling" the driver and letting Windows reinstall a driver.

If you are running Vista, the card reader should work becuase Windows Update actually installs it for you.

Yes it's a driver problem. Vista will not recognize the card reader. Have to manually update the driver from HP site. Download the appropriate driver for Vista and then under device manager point it towards the downloaded driver.

I downloaded the Vista drivers from HP and when it installed, I didn't accept the default settings but "forced" the Ricoh ones. I just tried the miniSD in an adapter card and it read it fine. So, if you are having trouble reinstall the driver and it will prompt you if you want the Ricoh or use the existing Vista ones. Take the Ricoh route. But, I am only basing this on this one type of card as that is all I have here at the moment.... hope this helps. Also, make sure you are inserting the card correctly, the brass goes down and the notched corner goes toward the user (brand label up in other words). I do wish it had an eject button, but it is probably a bit on the cheap side.
