My laptop has the 5-in-1 card reader on it. I can't for the life of me figure out how to use it. I have a Sony camera so I use "memory stick pro" for it. I have tried just inserting the memory card it's self and its almost like its too small for the slot. So then I put the card in the pro duo stick and tried to use it that way and I still can't get it to work. The slot still seems to big.

Can anyone help me figure it out.

Sorry for all the questions. I am getting frustrated and wondering if I wasted my money.

    Thanks In Advance,
    -Cass

Well, it should work that way. At least thats how it works with my XPS M1210. Ever used the cardreader before? Could be its broken. Maybe it got dusty. Try dusting it out with compressed air. If you can you can also try different types of cards you know that will fit to see if it works with those.

Anyway, you can still use a USB connection to get the photo's off your camera. Thats how I do it most of the time.

Well the HP laptops should accept both formats. Umm when you insert it, are you sureyou're inserting it all the way in? I remember when I first got my laptop I thought my memory card reader was broken, I just didn't push it in far enough.

I just push it in. It just slides into place and then it works. I never need to use any force. But I do push it in gently till I can't push it any further. But by then Windows has already recognized the memory card. Dust can kill something like a card reader.

But don't you have an USB option? I have a Sony camera and I can either take out its memory card. Or hook it up to my laptop/PC via USB connection.

I've tried pushing it all the way in. Its like the card gets lost in there and I have to get tweezers to pull it out. I haven't tried any other cards on it. Will try that here in a few and see if it works. I can use my USB adapter that came with my camera but it's a pain in the ass. LOL!

It shouldn't be dusty and hopefully it's not broken. I just bought this laptop on the 2nd of this month. Hadn't tried to use the card reader till today.

    Thanks!
