I have an HP Pavilion DV9320us laptop with a Toshiba 120GB SATA drive. I want to upgrade to a 500GB drive. HP support could not assure me that it would work. I have confirmed that the normal SATA 7+15 connector is the same as the one on my current Toshiba drive, and will accept the HP connector adapter for my laptop's HD bay.

Has anyone had any experience with 320GB or 500GB SATA drives in these laptops? I'm trying to get a high degree of confidence of compatibility before I buy, as I'm considering on bidding on some nonreturnable drives in eBay.

    Appreciate any advice.

    Bob

I love my 500gb drives (DV9500). Shop around. I got mine as low as $98. I bought a bunch of um, along with mounting brackets and adapters, making it easy to clone them at high speeds (for backups), and swap um out quickly.
