Has anyone tried overclocking their 5650 yet? If so, what are your overclocks on Envy 14?

I've seen some crazy 5650 overclocks in another thread, but I'm concerned about heat issues because the Envy 14 is so small. I'm not sure if it will be safe.

Check this thread out. The E14 5650 is not a good overclocker as the 5650 HP installed in it was a lower-grade 5650 that only passed the minimum core clock ATI reference specification for a 5650 and only a few managed to get the extra 100 MHZ of core speed that most normal 5650 operates back.

Urghh. That is disappointing to hear. Thank you for the link. I expected as much...

Oh well, although I am a hardcore gamer, I didn't get this laptop to play games, and shouldn't expect too much in that department.

It still remains a great card for the price and the size of the laptop.

Dont expect it to match a desktop or a premium gaming computer and you'll be fine. I game on it but I dont compare it to my i7/5870 at home.

I've overclocked mine to 550/900 and temps are fine. I haven't tried going up any more.

Not every 5650 in the Envy 14 can get that. You got one of the good ones that can. If you check the thread I linked, many people are disgruntled that theirs can't even overclock 50 MHZ up.

passmark tolerates 625 mhz , whereas furmark fails above 540 ... it's a bit strange.

Furmark seems to be the more accurate benchmark utility for OC stability. If Furmark fails at 540+, then that is your GPU's limit for stability long-term.
