Hi, I just got a 2nd gen envy 15 with an ati mobility hd 5830 gpu. I did a clean install of windows 7 x64, and now cant find any drivers online for the 5830. My graphics adapter is listed as the standard vga adapter.

Could anyone point towards the correct drivers?
    Thanks

Well, there is a sticky thread named HP/Compaq info thread **Please read before posting** where you could find a link to the Envy driver page found here.

The drivers there should be the ones it got shipped with which are old drivers.

Sadly there is no updated one from HP and up until now the official Catalyst drivers from ATI/AMD hasn't supported the mobility GPU's. I'm sure you already know that! :)

That is until 10.3 is released next month which will include support for them.

There are leaked 10.3 beta drivers though and links to them could be found here.

I would second the recommendation on the 10.3 beta's... I'm running them now, and they're worth an extra 150-200 points in 3DMark06 for me, with no apparent issues.

Alright thanks, I already tried installing the drivers found on the official driver page, but it didn't help. I'm pretty sure that page is for the first generation envy, and the drivers are for the 4830, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong (not the first time I've installed drivers so I don't think so) or what.

I think I'll give the betas a try, thanks for the link.

The beta drivers seem to work so far. Thanks
