Can anyone please let me know what the cache size is on your 750gb HDD on your dv6 or dv7 quad (with SB)?

I tried contacting HP....but they didn't know...nor would release the model number of the hard-drives.

I want to place my order before the current coupon runs out (I think I'm going to order both the 6 and 7 and send one back eventually), but I'm trying to figure out which HDD to get. The current offer is a free upgrade to the 750gb model....but I may go with the faster version. However...if the 750gb has more cache.....then I will go with that one.

    Thanks!

Just doing a google search of all the different 750GB 5400 hardrives, All of them specified an 8MB size of cache.

Yeah...Newegg has three 5400 rpm 750GB HDD's....and all of them are 8mb. They also have a 7200 rpm version that is 16mb..

I looked up the model number one my current 640GB 7200 rpm HDD and it is 16mb.

If I would not have missed to coupon date (I'm sure there will be more)....I would opt out of the "free upgrade" and keep the faster, smaller HDD.

So.....I'd like some input. I'm still pissed at HP....but I noticed that another coupon came out today. So I'm going to sleep on it...and if I'm more relaxed...I will order a dv6 and dv7 tomorrow when I get to work.

When I place to order....do you think I should pass on the free upgrade and roll with the 640gb HDD at 7200 RPM but with a 16mb cache? Or should I go with the 750gb at 5400 RPM, but with an 8mb cache? I'm leaning towards the 640.....but I'm a noob at this stuff.
