I have a dv6-6190, and have noticed that on some games, after a certain amount of time, the screen will freeze for a couple of seconds, then turn on and off like as if it was switching monitors and then after a few more seconds go back to normal. If I ALT-TAB in time back to the desktop, I can see the typical "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered" message.

Right now, I am playing Borderlands, and after about 20 minutes this always happens and then keeps repeating every ten minutes or so. The last game I had a problem with this was Dead Rising 2, but I thought it was a problem with the game. Seeing as the exact same thing happens with Borderlands, this must be something wrong on my end. So, anyone else ever had this problem, and how did you fix it?

Yes i have that problem every now and then but I always overclock by at least 20%. So all I do is lower core clock speed by about 15 Mhz and then im good. On my 6770m it starts to do this at about 880 core so I lower to about 860 and it stops. Of course you'll need to find stable drivers I use leshcat's driver pack for switchable graphics. Google it.

I feel our pain. My previous Pavilion used to do the same, and when I replaced it with the same model, it does it aswell but much less frequently. Now it BSODs a lot for a change.. faekplastik3s's recommendation to clock it is the best. But drivers are the biggest issue I would say... DNA or Leh's.. they are both good...
