Whenever I try to install the latest 11.7b driver for 6670m, it tells me "AMD Catalyst Mobility cannot be downloaded due to the incompatible hardware/software on your computer."

I'm not sure why, any help would be appreciated.

My catalyst version currently is: 2011.0315.958.16016
    Driver Packaging Version: 8.83.6.2-110412a-117442C-HP

    Thanks!

Someone had this problem before and it was because they were downloading the wrong thing. Don't download the suite. Go to the next tab and download the larger file with "catalyst" in the name (sorry I don't recall all the details, but that should be enough information).

Although I'm pretty sure the current consensus is that you'll get the best performance and stability if you just install the current HP drivers off their site then install the 11.5b hotfix on top of it.

No, your drivers are the drivers officially supported by HP which are fine.

You got that error because AMD does not officially support AMD switchable graphics with Intel Chipsets.

Hmm I wonder if switching it to Fixed mode was a good idea since OpenGL run on the 6770 now. I'm so confused lol

Even on the 11.7 known issue, AMD admits they still might have problems with OpenGL.
Luckily, it only affects to a small minority.

Well I put it in "fixed" mode in the BIOS and CAD is running great. It was choppy for a second then I put hardware acceleration on and now it flies! Haven't tried photoshop yet.

I downloaded this hotfix some time ago, but to be honest, I never really understood what it was for or how to use it. I see, from your post, how to use it now but what does it "fix" precisely?

I apologize if my question is off-topic, but there are so many threads covering the whole "graphics" issue, that trying to read through it all to find an answer to my question would be an undertaking in itself.

Well, the big note for 11.5b was to the attempt to fix the right upper corner mouse lag that was introduced in the 11.5 update.

It worked for some. They didn't really fixed until 11.7.

Yeah, I tried 11.7 for a while, but I ended up backing down to 11.5 hotfix because it was more stable, and get better FPS. I gained about 5fps when I downgraded to 11.5...

2nd that... Infact I believe it helped alot more than 5 fps, at least in Starcraft and Crysis... Big noticable difference, was able to change whole graphic levels and still be smooth.

How did you back down to 11.5? I tried just uninstalling 11.7 and then installing the hotfix..then I started gettign "AMD driver stopped responding but windows was able to recover it" and it takes forever to alt+tab. Is there a better way to do it then reformatting? Thanks.
