    Hi!

My cousing bought an HP Compaq 6720s a few month back, and suddenly part of her keyboard stopped working. All keys on the right third of the keyboard stopped working.

Is there anything I can do to help, or should I RMA the notebook?

    [EDIT]
    These keys aren't working:

Have you tried restore to an earlier time? Checked in event viewer to see if there's been some sort of failure

It's not windows related. Even in bios keys aren't working.

Sounds like hardware but would it hurt to do a restore, seeing it only take a few minutes, plus I'm guessing hardware issue show up in event view.

I had to connect an external USB keyboard to the notebook to even get into Windows (she has a password set and the ENTER key doesn't work). It looks like a hardware problem. I could try reseating the keyboard connector but the notebook is still under warranty so I wont open it up, although I have experience opening notebooks and replacing components.

BTW: I added a pic to my first post that shows which keys aren't working.

It doesn't hurt to give it a try. HP notebook doesn't have any seal, you can open it as long as you don't break anything.

Will perhaps try it tomorrow. If it was mine, I would do it today.

Forgot about this thread. I RMAed the notebook. Keyboard was replaced on the spot. Cousin got it back right away.
